ARTICLE TITLE:S. Africa strikers denounce Mbeki
SUMMARY:Tens of thousands of South African union workers marched on Wednesday in sympathy with striking civil servants in a massive show of force over a wage dispute that has fueled political tensions.Downtown Johannesburg came to a standstill as about 15,000 union supporters chanted slogans denouncing President Thabo Mbeki's government, reflecting anger over economic policies which critics say have left South Africa's poor majority behind.Marchers thronged the streets of other major cities including Cape Town and Bloemfontein.Union leaders promised to shut South Africa down in sympathy with civil servants, whose two-week old strike has caused chaos in hospitals, schools and public offices around the country.I think that is nor fair for them to be treated in cruel way.

HE DEFENDED NIXON IN IMPEACHMENT PROCESS
VOCAB- impeachment and conservative
Samuel Alexander Garrison defended Nixon in the 1974 impeachment. Mr. Garrison was 32 back then and prepared a 41 page argument against impeachment. Since then, Garrison divorced, went bankrupt, turned out gay, served time, and was disbarred. He recovered his law license and resumed his legal career. He also joined the Democratic Party and became active in gay-rights movement. Garrison graduated from the University of Virginia. In 1969, he became the youngest commonwealth’s attorney. He was a partner in a business that was $1 million in debt. The conservative Republic died this past week. There will be a memorial service this week.
I have never researched on this person but I found out he was a good person. I would have agreed with the good comments the press gave him.

Driver error cited in multi-injury crash
plowed- To move or progress with driving force.
The man plowed his vehicle into 15 people and injured 12.
Investigate- to examine, study, or inquire into systematically; search or examine into the particulars of; examine in detail.
The detective had to investigate the vehicle to figure out if it was an accident or on purpose.
A man named Mauro H. Yan was picking up his grand daughter at a middle school, and mistaking his brake peddle for his gas peddle, he ran into a group of children waiting for a bus. 15 people were injured including 12 children. His vehicle is being investigated to figure out if it was a mechanical mistake or a human mistake. He is waiting to see if he will be charged for reckless driving.
I think this is sad, he’s 70 years old and shouldn’t be driving, seriously. I think there should be an age limit on driving, and after that limit, someone is going to have to drive for you, because old people do not have the reflexes like they did when they were young.

Hilton said to be under evaluation at jail.
Heiress- a woman who inherits or has a right of inheritance, esp. a woman who has inherited or will inherit considerable wealth.
The heiress was believed to be undergoing medical and psychiatric evaluations.
Deteriorate-to make or become worse or inferior in character.
The problem became to deteriorate as time went on.
*Summary.
Paris Hilton is going to jail for violating her house arrest sentence. Paris hasn’t slept or ate, and she is given psychiatric meds to calm her down. She is very depressed and having anxiety attacks. She is to serve 45 days in prison to finish her house arrest. She can not finish it at home since she had already violated it. She got pulled over twice for driving with a suspended license. The second time brought her to court and back into jail. She drove because she wanted to get a late night burger.
I feel that this is very funny. She is getting locked up for something stupid, and it could have been easily avoided. All she needed to do was renew her license and everything would have been okay. She has lots of money, how could she make such an easy mistake?

Jettisoned: To cast over board
The ship jettisoned a small cargo to increase the speed of the boat.
On Sunday June 10th The Union Tribune Published a article entitled, Atlantis to do back flip to get photos of shuttle’s underbelly. Because of the incident that occurred in 2003 Columbia disaster they must take pictures of the bottom of the ships hull to make sure the space ships heat resistant panels are in good shape. All this is done at a ship dock in space. The person who will pull of this dangerous maneuver will be a former marine, Frederic “Rick” Stucco. It is a very dangerous maneuvered were they have to flip the ship to take 300 digital photos of the ships underbelly. They look at several parts and no real concerns were presented thought there was a piece of foam missing but it of little concern right now. They said that the piece that came off was to small to cause damage.
In this article it shows how we are continuously trying to improve safety this is great thing that people can still learn from there mistakes. I feel that this is the step in the right direction trading time for safety is usually a good thing and in this situation it is.
