Title: Renaissance and Reformation
Section: Power Struggle in Florence
In The story Power struggle in Florence, is where the renaissance had began in the Italian city-state of Florence. During the renaissance, Florence was the wealthiest from trading, they could afford to support the scholars, writers, and artist. In the 1400s, the powerful and rich family Medici had ruled Florence. Most of the Medici family had supported the thinkers and artist which who had made the birthplace of the renaissance, by that time envious rivals was planning on destroying the Medici family. After all that time the Medici and the another wealthy family had attacked each other over the reason of money, power, and art. The reason they fought was because the Medici family usually made their money in banking, like plenty of rich families did, they were to married another person from a rich family, which the daughter of the Medici family marries the Pazzis son, so that meant that they where all related. The most interesting fact that I learned was they back the people in the renaissance was full of rich and powerful families. And which they all where some what related because they where to married a person in another rich family. The thing that I liked was that they where helping the poor people, even helping other rich and powerful families, also that the renaissance was because of the rich and powerful people that stayed their in Florence.
Book Title: Chicken Soup for the Women’s Soul
Today I read about a topic about love. On a rainy night, on one of Alabama’s highways there was a African-American who car broke down and was stranded. Since she’s needed a ride, she decided to stop the next person she would see. As the next car past by, she waved to a car and a young white male pulled over. He gave her a ride . As she seemed very much in a hurry. A week later there was a delivery of a to his house. When he opened the door he found a colored tv and a stereo record player placed in front of his door. With these thing came a note from the lady he had give a ride to. In the letter she thanked him for not acting selfish and giving her a ride, for she stated she was in a hurry to arrive to her sick husband before he died. I thought I was really nice for that man to give a women of color a ride. That was really thoughtful that he wasn’t racist and still help her out. What I learned after reading this passage was that, I good to be nice and help others out, you never know but you might get something big in return. Or its just the thought that counts.
Every year the Mongolian children have a horse race. They say that it is tradition, and that they used to do it in the days of Ghengis Khan. The first two days they compete against another. The third day is for celebration. Tokyo is located along Tokyo Bay on Japan’s eastern coast. In 2000, the population of this region had grown to more than 26 million. Indonesian people are really into puppets.
I think that Asia is a good place to visit. It has a lot of beautiful things to see.
Chicken Noodle Soup for the Teenage Soul III.
"No Longer a Child"
This short story is about a 12 year old girl named Jordana. She had been sexually abused and physically abused by her father for years up to the age until she turned 8. Her parents divorced and her mother took custody of her. Jordana became good friends with a girl her age named Hilary. Hilary became aware of Jordanas problems when they went tanning in Jordanas backyard and Hilary saw Jordanas scars. They were only 12 years old, and Hilary tried her best to counsel Jordana, until Hilary noticed that the scars became more frequent and everything became too hard to handle. Hilary took a big step and told Jordanas mother everything. Jordana needed to be helped.
This story helped me realize that its okay to admit that you cannot do everything yourself. Especially if someone you know is hurting themselves, their parents should know atleast just so they can be updated on their own child. Imagine the guilt you would feel if your friend committed suicide and you were the only person who knew, and that when the parents found out they would ask you why you didnt tell them. You would feel like they were trying to blame you, or some parents would be angry and actually blame you out of anger.
*The Migration
Many African Americans wanted to leave the South. From 1915 to 1930 thousands and thousands of African Americans migrated, or moved, from South to the North. This movement is called “The Great Migration.” Life in the South was still very difficult for many African Americans after the Civil War ended in 1865. The Thirteenth Amendment had abolished slavery. For many, freedom was only the first step on the long path toward a better life. Most African Americans in the South still worked as farmers, and few owned their own land. They were very poor and lived in small, run-down cabins. I think It sucked even more when their children had little chance for an education. African Americans wanted to be able to earn a good living, to own property and to move ahead. I thought that this book had plenty of interesting facts.
Title: Wild Animals
This book is about different wild animals, and I read about different types of monkeys. One of the apes is called an Orangutan, they are strong but gentle. Unlike other apes it prefers to sleep off the ground. Another ape I read about is called the lowland gorilla it is shy, gentle, and intelligent and very strong. It lives in groups and the dominant males are called “silverbacks” because of their color, They are rare and live in Central W Africa. The Chimpanzee are excitable, but the adult chimps can be dangerous. They communicate with facial expressions.
♥Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul III
♥“Finding A Vision”
♥Today I read a story about a teenage girl who lost her vision due to a herpes simplex virus. Tiny cold sores covered the surface of her eye, scarring her cornea. She wasn’t allowed to be in the sunlight unless she wore thick black glasses that were still being called, “Coke bottles.” Her mother had to set her meals, help her maintain herself, and basically take care of her every need. She didn’t see much in her future love life but there was a guy who was always her friend that stuck by her side throughout the entire virus. She tells about the time he took her to a bbq and introduced her as his girlfriend. Her boyfriend helped her through the rough period of time in her life and helped her realize how thankful she was to just be alive everyday.
♥I enjoyed reading this story because I gained a little knowledge on STD’s and how nasty the outcomes of sex can be. I would hate to get Herpes like this chick in the story.
♥One interesting fact is that this is a true story and the boyfriend in the story is now her husband.
