*East Asia
Asia is the biggest continent on Earth. It is one of great geographical diversity. The Asian continent accounts for almost one third of the total land area in the world. Much of East Asia is covered by rocky mountains and cold deserts. Mount Fuji is one of the many volcanoes in a region of islands and archipelagos. Only about 400 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild. The island of Sumatra is only one of the 13,677 islands that make up the country of Indonesia. Every year about 25 million people try to climb Mount Fuji. Many earthquakes occur along the borders of tectonic plates. Scientists who study earthquakes are called seismologists. I thought it was krazy how the Kobe earthquake damaged 190,000 buildings.

- A brother like that
- There was a guy named Paul. On Christmas he received an automobile as a present from his brother. On Christmas eve when he was coming out of his office he saw someone walking around his new car. When he got there the boy asked him if it was his new car. Paul nodded and told him that his brother gave it to him. Then Paul thought he what the boy was going to say. He thought he was going to say that he wishes he can have a brother like that. Then he was surprised at what the boy said next. He said that he wishes he can be a brother like that.
- one thing that I learned from this story is that it’s more better to give than to receive.
Great Mysteries Of The Past
Nostradamus was thought to be a prophet. Some thought that he was fake. They say that he just guessed. The father of the atomic bomb was J. Robert Oppenheimer. He helped contribute the U.S. victory in World War 2. Dian Fossey loved gorillas so much that she went to the forest to go live with them. She would sit with them as if she were one of them. She would protect them so much that she would protect them from people that tried to kill them. She had a lot of enemies, and one day somebody assassinated her in December 1985.
Nostradamus was called a prophet. There was lady that lived with gorillas. A man invented the atomic bomb.
Dian actually lived with gorillas.
Title: East Asia People and Places
Today I read about kite wars in East Asia. Before the kite-flying contest began, some parents touch the hand of their first born son to the kite named for him. The parents had thought that this will bring success to the kite and a long happy life to the boy. Some other parents fear that bad luck might come to their son if the kite with his name is knocked down by other kites, so therefore they would leave their child at home. At the start of the contest the crowd surrounds the teams as they launched their kites into the sky. One interesting fact I learned is that kites have played an important part in Japanese culture for more than 1,000 yrs.

"Challenge Days"
This story is about a teenage life. A young man named Andrew Tertes is a student who likes to skip class and hang out with his friends. He signed up for a "Challenge Day" just to have a reason to not go to class. His idea was to sign up to the Challenge Day, sneak out and go somewhere. Instead, he found himself in a very large circle with people he did not know and people he usually makes fun of with his friends. Everyone was to introduce themselves on a microphone loud and proud. Then there was a part where they were to compliment everyone instead of put everyone down. It was very weird for Andrew to compliment everyone because he was so used to making fun and beating up his friends everyday. Friendship to him was about making fun of each other but still being down for each other. Then there came a point where everyone was asked personal questions and everyone that the question occurred to was to cross the line and face the people that were left behind. Andrew and his friend would laugh at some of the people that crossed the lines. Until question that caught Andrews attention, "Have you ever been beaten up or abused in any type of way?" Andrew used to get picked on and beat up by his brothers all the time, which effected him as he grew up. He walked the line embarrassed thinking he was the only one walking, he saw that many of them followed him. Later on he figured out that he has so much in common with people he pushed in the hallways and made fun of. Later on he found himself appologizing to many of those students he had hurt. This story teaches me that no matter how different you can be from someone, you can have so much in common. You shouldn't judge people at all.

a book of short stories
I now started a new short story. This one is about Susan Straight. She starts talking about how she has two mothers. She starts to talk about her step mom. She first starts with how her step mom, Alberta, was in a coma for 2 weeks. Her skin was pale, along with her high blood pressure. How all the stress could make her worse. All Alberta wanted was for her husband of 40 years not to worry. Straight said Alberta was uncomfortable being cared for 24/7.
I think Susan really took good care of her. I think she deserved the attention due to all the attention she gives.
I likes that Susan was in the same relationship for 8 years before she got married.
Illustrated Book of Pregnancy & Baby Care
By week 36 you should have started to slow your life down in preparation for the birth of the baby. Emotions are capable of swinging wildly like wanting to have labor, wondering if the birth of the baby will be ok, and worried about becoming a parent. It is capable that during this week the baby’s head could have dropped further into the woman’s pelvis. Women should be careful because the pregnancy means that your belly will get bigger and is putting more weight on your body than your body is used to, so doctors say that you should focus on good posture. During the last few weeks of pregnancy the woman is capable of getting tired very easily. It is important not to fight the tiredness because the woman needs to rest and relax as much as possible. If you are planning to breast-feed your baby you should resize your bra no earlier than the 36th week and you should get at least 2 nursing bras. During week 40 your skin could become itchy and your belly will be so big that you may have difficulty getting comfortable in bed.I think that it is very interesting on how baby’s are formed. I also think that it is very exciting when you are close to your due date or when you find out the gender of the baby. I also think that having a child is a big responsibility.A fact that I thought was interesting while reading the book is that towards the end of the last few weeks of pregnancy the mother gets anxious for the baby’s arrival.
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul
"My Best Friend Mike"
The story I read today is about a guy named,Mike.Well,Mike's best friend Brian was worried about him because their friendly relationship was going down the drain.Mike's parents were really worried about him so they called Brian to see if he could help Mike.Anyway Brian went to see if he could help out his best friend, but everything he tried didn't work.He tried to make Mike cheer up by making him laugh, and smile, but it didn't work.So Mike's parents seeked professional help and Mike was diagnosed with depression. One day Mike and Brian were having a serious talk and Mike confessed to Brian that he was gay.At first Brian was shocked and then he decided that he was not going to let that little issue destroy their friendship so they continued to be friends. Now Mike is not depressed and he and Brian still have a good friendly relationship going on.
The story I read today was odd.It was odd because I don't really understand why people turn that way.Anyway I don't have a problem with gay people as long as they respect me and in return I will give them my respect.
A friend is one who knows you and loves you just the same.
Reflection-5/18/07
I do not understand why……you would allow someone to talk so F***ing disrespectful to someone you say you rea…Truly care for, and make a number of excuses for the reason why they are acting the way they are toward him/her. It’s disrespectful to the point were the person calls his/her family out of their names, and even Brutally!......disrespects his/her family members who or no longer among us…R.I.P. This person doesn’t know him/her, doesn’t know about the life that him/her live, and what him/her have seen throughout his/her life.
-Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul III
-This morning I read a story about a high school girl who was on her way to basketball practice. On the way to practice, her friend Stephanie drove up next to her and offered her a ride to practice. She refused because she knew her parents would disapprove of her getting a ride from a sixteen year old. Later that day her mother called her and told her that two girls from her school were killed in a car crash- those two girls were Stephanie & her friend Jenn. It could have been her that was dead- but things happen for a reason. Each day she says she forgets a little more, but in her heart will always be the memory of her love and kindness. This story was pretty sad, but it was cute how she said that she won all her matches for Stephanie.
