2. Why do you think that the framers of the Constitution provided Congress the ability to override a presidential veto? Because it is a free country and so if people don’t agree they can try to override it.
3. Do you think that it is possible for Congress and the White House to reach a compromise on a war spending bill? If so, how? If not, why not? Well they probably can but it will be complicating because they don’t agree with each other.

I also think that it would be helpful if Iran and the U.S. should be in peace. It makes me glad to know that somre people an Iraq are helping the news reporters. I am surprised about how the boy thinked quick.

I do, people can find a compromise in anything as long as they want to fix whatever the issue is, especially since most people just want the war to be over.

5. According to the program, what are some of the other issues that might arise during the conference? Iran’s position in the war, Iran’s not willing to be on anyone’s side.
6.How would you describe the current relationship between Iran and the U.S.? I wouldn’t say it’s good because the war is still going on but for the most part, it looks like things might be getting better.

She is the United States Secretary of State. Her strategy is to remain polite and respectful, she wants to know what they might bring.
8. Who is Richard Cubie, and how did he recently save his mother's life? A boy in Florida who saved his mom when her bed caught on fire. He used the fire extinguisher to put down the fire.
9. What potential fire hazards, if any, exist in your home? I think my house is pretty safe.
10. Does your family have a safety plan in place in the event of a potential house fire? My mom and I do have an idea on how to escape the house if we have a fire.
+ 5 sentence reflection of your thoughts about the events in the news. This morning’s CNN news focused on a few things. Our class learned about how Congress is trying to find the funds for the war, how our Secretary of State is over in Iran in a conference, and how a thirteen year old saved his mother from a fire. I have never really paid much attention to the war in Iraq, so today’s video brought me up to date. It was also very interesting how the thirteen year old boy didn’t freeze in shock, he knew exactly what to do to save his mom.

Bush's recent veto of a war spending bill? the president exercised his veto power and rejected a war spending bill that included a timetable for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq and sent it back to Congress. The next move in the political playbook was for Congress to try to override that veto. It requires a two-thirds vote.
2. Why do you think that the framers of the Constitution provided Congress the ability to override a presidential veto? The White House and Congress now must work together to create a new bill both sides can accept.
3. Do you think that it is possible for Congress and the White House to reach a compromise on a war spending bill? If so, how? If not, why not? Democratics in Congress may have picked this Iraq funding fight with the White House. They’ll find common ground.

5. According to the program, what are some of the other issues that might arise during the conference? The U.S. accuses Iran of helping Iraqi fighters with training and deadly explosive devices that kill U.S. troops.
6. How would you describe the current relationship between Iran and the U.S.? It's unclear whether Iran even wants to sit down with the U.S. without getting something in return. Not so friendly. 7. Who is Condoleezza Rice? According to the report, what is Rice's strategy for dealing with Iran during the summit? If you were in her shoes, would you respond to Iran? Why or why not? Rice is the 66th United States Secretary of State, and the second in the administration of President George W. Bush to hold the office. Condoleezza Rice is cracking open a door that could lead to the highest level talks in 30 years. If she runs into Iran's foreign minister she is "planning to be polite and see what the encounter brings."
8. Who is Richard Cubie, and how did he recently save his mother's life? Thirteen-year-old Richard Cubie knew his mother Mariseli Diaz needed him. I woke up. I thought my mom was cooking, but then I see a big smoke and I'm like, ok, cooking doesn't make a lot of smoke. And then I opened the door and all this is burning. 9. What potential fire hazards, if any, exist in your home? Plenty of potential fire hazards. 10. Does your family have a safety plan in place in the event of a potential house fire? Yup………..RUN! 11. 5 sentence reflection of your thoughts about the events in the news. I thought that this video was interesting because of how Richard just woke up and helped his mom. I think the US doesn’t have a great relationship with Iran. The video had a lot of interesting facts.

* flat irons are hazardous in my house because sometimes I leave it on the carpet while its still plugged in.

10. Does your family have a safety plan in place in the event of a potential house fire? No, our house has fire alarms and we live in Navy Housing. We also have an alarm for any gasses that shouldn’t be roaming around the house. So we actually know when to get out of the house.

I didn’t really like todays news. It was sort of hard to understand because I only like to watch news that has something related to me or something that can catch my attention. Like something happening in my neighborhood.
