*Road to Revolution
Long ago, the United States was not even a country. It was 13 colonies. A colony is a place ruled by another country. England ruled all 13 colonies. The people from New York called themselves New Yorkers. People from Virginia called themselves Virginians. Colonists living in the 13 colonies decided to go to war. They went to war against England because they wanted to be free. A war to replace one government with another is called a revolution. The war between England and the 13 colonies is called the American Revolution. The Native American people helped French fight a war against the English. I thought that this book had a lot of information on the road to revolution.

Title: Spices
I read about traders and explorers visiting other countries. One explorer I read about is named Ibn Battuta, and he spent 30 yrs exploring the world. He went to West Africa, Europe, and Asia, he also visited almost every Muslim country of his time. Another explorer named Ibn Fadlan traveled to Russia. Both of these explorers wrote about their journeys in travel books. They wrote about the new land they seen, these books helped Arabs learn about life in other parts of the world. One interesting fact I learned is that a long time ago the Arabs controlled the spice trade.

In the book Renaissance and Reformation I learned of several causes that led to this time of great thinking and reformation. During this time there was great interest in the Greek art form and literature. There was great strides taking place in the field of science. Telescopes were invented at the time a discovery that allowed them to come up with bold new Ideas of their world. Religion also took steps forward. The protestant churches were formed in which they would rebel on the some of the stances of the churches all too controlling power . It began with murder of one person from a wealthy family while they were at church. The Medici were the target of the assault in church. They were a very wealthy family that would give to the arts by employing lots of artist to decorate the house. And artisans to entertain his company. He would donate to art helping to advance the cultural movement. Because of all their wealth they had an enormous amount of political power the goal of the assassination was to not let one person have to much influence.
The revolution was a time of great minds working as they were meant to be. In the small section that I read I learned of power struggle that was evident of the time the fact that the man assassinated was to close to achieving great influence meant that people were afraid of having some one that could lead the people into radical ideas.
The most interesting fact that a murder led to a time of great minds.

-Chicken soup for the teenage soul
-What’s Wrong?
-A newly trained teacher named Mary went to teach at a Navajo Indian reservation. Every day she would ask five students to go to the chalkboard and complete a simple math problem from their homework. They would just stand there silently. She started to think what she was doing wrong. So she asked them what was wrong and she found out something very interesting. The students told her that they knew that not all five of them could do the problem so none of them went up. They believed no one would win if any students were shown up embarrassed at the chalkboard. So they refused to compete with each other in public. So instead she checked each student individually.
-The interesting thing about this is that even at their early age they understood the senselessness of the win-lose approach in the classroom

Aegyptopithecus is the earliest known ancestor for humans and apes. They later evolved to Australopithecus. Then they evolved into Homo habilis. Then they evolved into Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis. They later evolved into us, Homo sapiens sapiens. The brain is the body’s control center. The heart pumps blood. Vessels circulate blood around the whole body.
I don’t believe in human evolution. I don’t think none of it its truth.
I didn’t know that the brain controlled the whole body.

Book title: Chicken Soup for the Women’s Soul
Title: Where Do The Mermaids Stand?
Today I read a story based on attitude and self-esteem. This lady in my story was taking care of some kids in a church. To keep them amused she had them play a game some what similar to rock, paper, scissors, but called giants, wizards, and dwarfs. In the game you have to divide three groups pf kids, one being the giants, the others the wizards, and the last group the dwarfs. As the kids were all separating into their groups, there was one little girl who went up to the lady taking care of the kids, and asked her, “where do the mermaids stand?” The lady seemed confused, from the little girls actions. She separated herself into her own little self away with her own personality and character. She told the little girl that there were no such thing as mermaids. But the little girl said, “of course there is, I am one myself” . So she told her that she would be standing next to the King’s of sea. This story was cute to me because its cool how a little kid, decides to be in her own little group all on her own. Other than the rest who follow one another when there kids. I believe those who are different than others and are leaders themselves to out to be successful in life and go some where good in the future. I personally would like to a bit more of a leader in my own way, but I wouldn’t care if anyone followed me or not. Everyone should be their own leader to their own life.

Chicken soup for the Teenage Soul
"Healing with love"

Today I read a story about a sister and her brother. Her brother is in a rehabilitation center in upstate New York. He's in there because of problems with drugs and juvenile delinquency. It has been a year since she saw her brother and she's really scared that her brother's time in there is a waste a time. Her father was there as well and when they both saw him it was like meeting a new person. When she saw her brother it was like meeting a new person because he had matured more. Also he wasn't using any drugs anymore and he looked rehabilitated. She was really sad when they said goodbye to each other, but she would come back in a couple of months.

I feel I could relate a lot to this story because I know somebody that has a drug problem. This story was alright except that her brother would stay in there for more months.

One fact is that if you really want to change you could do it.

Tales From Ancient Greece-
In this book I read about Greek Gods. This section talked about a goddess whose name was Demeter. She was welcomed wherever she went. She possessed wonderful powers. They thought that without her they would have a lifeless place. Then Demeter had a daughter. The Daughters name was Persephone. They traveled the world together to bring harvest. One Day Persephone went to pick up white flowers that grew there. But what Persephone didnt know was that Hades was under her getting ready to ride out with his chariot and horses. Then he came out of the ground. He thought that she was pretty and that he was lonely and needed a wife. And so far that is all I have read. What I find most interesting is that Mother and daughter were so close. I think that is good.

Section title: Road to the Revolution
Picture description: there are people that are fighting with each other.
Summary: This book is about how wars happened in many years ago. And how revolution was in centuries. George Washington was patriot. He thought English rule was too harsh. He was willing to go to war to gain independence. Washington was elected the first commander in chief of the continental army. he quickly decided that he would lead the army without pay. What I think about this book is that it kept in memory all the conflicts between two countries that did not agree with each other. There was lots of confrontations between this two countries.
