Title: 1001 facts about the human body Today I read about the digestive system. All the food we eat must be broken down into its basic components before the body can absorb and use its nutrients. This process of digestion starts with the mouth watering. As food passes through the body, it is broken down by enzymes, which are special proteins that accelerate the body’s chemical reactions. Undigested waste is excreted as feces. The digestive tract runs from the mouth to the anus and is about 30ft (9m) long. Food passes from the mouth, down the esophagus into the stomach. From there, it passes into the small intestine, made up of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, and into the large intestine, made up of the colon and rectum. Several organs and glands are connected to the tract to help digestion.
I read something a little bit different today. It’s a self-help book called coping with death and grief. It was written by Marge Eaton Heegaard. It tells you how to deal with death and moving away. In the couple of first chapters I read, a little girl had to move away from her hometown to a new neighborhood. Its hard because all her friends are over there in her old town. She has to get used to it but its hard. Also a little boy loses his rabbit. It dies but he doesn’t know why. Either way its a pretty sad thing. I lost people in my life and I know how it feels and how much it hurts. It hurts more than anything to lose someone close to you. The interesting fact I found in he book is its not an easy thing to handle when you lose someone.
In today's blog I am reading about spices. I found out that many spices used to be found in the Moluccas islands of Indonesia. Warm, wet places like these spice islands are good for growing spices. Pepper grows wild in forests of India. Cinnamon comes from sri lanka. people once traded once in spices along a network of sea routes called the spice route. Then from their ships would carry to Europe. Ships sailed the route from china through Indonesia. I think what they are doing is very progressive. They were very smart for trading spices. Personally I would do it to. I learned that they would trade spices along a network of sea routes called the spice route.
Today’s CNN News was mainly about Sudan, Africa. The United Nations hope to end violence in Sudan. President Bush said that he wants families in Sudan to be able to rebuild their lives in peace. Sudan is the largest country in Africa and it’s name means “Land of the blacks.” Sudan is ¼ the size of the United States. U.S. will also propose a solution to the war with United Nations. Sudan is extremely diverse, with the deserts and the Nile River. Islam is the official religion of Sudan. Sudan’s official language is Arabic. Their twenty year civil war barely ended two years ago. Over one million people were killed in the civil war. Their government is accused of campaign of terror but denies the charges. The United Nations’ have lost at least 200,000 people in Darfur fighting. Also, 2 million have fled their homes because of the conflict. The Iranian Metro makes more than one million trips. They have different sections on the Iranian Metro separating the woman and the men.
“Are you god” Chicken noodle soup for the woman’s soul A little boy was sitting in cold weather during the holidays when a young woman walked by. She saw that he was longing when she looked him in the eyes, so she grabbed him by the hand and led him into a store. She bought him shoes and a outfit of warm clothing. Then they went back out on the streets and she told him he could go home and to have a happy holiday. The little boy looked up at her and said “Are you god Ma’am?” And she said, “No son, I’m just one of His children.” then he replied, “I knew you had to be some relation.” I think that since the lady was so kind and generous to him that the boy saw her as an act of god. Like he sent her there for a reason that day to help out a child in need.
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: This morning I am reading a section called “ All I Remember”. This story is about a girl that loves her father so much. They were really close. Every day when he started a conversation he would always say to her “ Have I told you yet today how much I adore you?” At age 82 as she said “ he was ready to die and I was ready to let go”. They talked about what would happen after he died. She asked him if she could give her a sign. If he could let her know that he is fine. They both didn’t believe in reincarnation but she just needed a sign. They were so deeply connected she was sure she could get thru to him. When her father died she prayed and prayed. Every day she prayed wishing that he would give her a sign. Her mother had died years ago from Alzheimer. One day she went to the doctor and as she was waiting there she felt dizzy. She then thought she was a sleep and then she noticed that her mind was in a hyper-acute state. Then she saw her mother. She was still quiet. All this time she had prayed to see or feel her father and had forgotten about her mother. She said sorry to her . Then her mother smiled and said that all she remember of her is how much happiness and love she gave her. I really love this story. I think that when a loved one dies some how they are there with you. They are protecting you. I think no matter what that feeling of how much you loved them never ends.
Section title: changes in life Summary: This part of the book talked about a 16 year old and a junior in high school. One of the worst things that could happen is to move the family from Texas to Arizona. she had only 2 weeks where she had to wrap up her things to leave to their new home. She had to leave her first job and her first boyfriend, and her best friends. She despised her parents for ruining her life because she felt that she had to start all over once again. I don’t think I would ever start something that I have already started is almost like if you were reborn again. To me it would be so hard
