Title: Book of Pregnancy & Baby Care

8 Sentence reflection:
During pregnancy the baby only has one source of food and that is the mother. A lot of people say that when women are pregnant they are eating for two all the time, but normally you don’t need to eat as much. So you won’t have to eat double of how much you at before pregnancy you should try eating a variety of fresh unprocessed foods. You should get a lot of calcium into your system because it is to develop your baby’s bones and teeth, you would need double of calcium than normal. If you are going to have dairy products, be aware that they are high in fat so you should think about choosing low-fat varieties. You should also eat a variety of protein-rich foods because during pregnancy your needs increase. You should also have a lot of vitamin C, fiber, folic acid, and iron. During pregnancy to protect your baby you should try not to drink coffee, tea, and hot chocolate or other beverages with sugar. You should definitely stay away from alcohol because if you drink alcohol during pregnancy the alcohol goes through the placenta into your baby’s bloodstream, and could be harmful.

3 Sentence Reflection:
After reading a portion on this book, I realized that there are a lot of necessities needed to be given to the baby during pregnancy. I also realized that everyone seems to say that the baby caring responsibility starts after birth, but I think it starts the first day you find out you’re pregnant.

Interesting Thing:
Something that I thought was interesting was that when someone drinks alcohol during pregnancy it goes into the baby’s bloodstream.

Very Scary

This book is about pumpkins that are laying in a field. As the moon shines brightly in the night, the pumpkins light up. The biggest pumpkin is lighting up the brightest. Owls, cats, crickets, and a witch all notice the pumpkin and want to take the pumpkin. The witch says she is going to bake the pumpkin but as soon as she is going to grab it, children run over to the pumpkins to pick one. So the witch hides behind a tree. Everyone is amazed by the biggest pumpkin there. They all stare and gaze at it. Some carve a scary face into it. As soon as they put a candle in, the pumpkin yells out "BOO!!" and scares everyone away, including the witch. Then the pumpkin laughs and says "how very scary I am" I thought this book raally had no point to it at all. I think it was dumb :]

Chicken Soup for the Women’s Soul
Words from the Heart
Even though some people may seem not too lovey-dovey, everyone needs to be loved and love others. For some people it may be hard to admit that they do love. Even though they really do love someone but never really let them know. Today I read a story based on a couple, the women named Connie suffered from cancer. Connie was in her final stages of caner but she always seemed so cheerful. Her husband Bill was always there to support her and by her side. Although they seemed to be very happy. There was one thing that bothered Connie, her husband wasn’t the type to say, “ I love you”. Although he did love her he was never really the love type. There was a volunteer at the hospital who would go and help Ms. Connie. She would speak to him about what concerned her. She told him about her and her husband. And how she would do anything for him just to say those 3 words to her. So before anything he spoke to Bill about what his wife had told her. He told Bill to think about it. So bill did, he spoke too his wife. Later as a day past he saw Bill in the hall way looking down. He knew that Connie had past away already. He went to talk to Bill and as he spoke he said that he was happy to tell his wife that he loved her before she pasted away. And in her room there was a besides her was a huge valentines card, that read “To my wonderful wife, I Love You”. What I learned about this story was that everyone needs some love in their life, even though they might not show it.

This morning I read When the Wind Blows by James Patterson. I read chapter 29 and this chapter was interesting. Max met some children in the forest. She wanted to talk to them, to get to know them. She was lonely and they reminded her of her and her little brother Mathew. The kids she has an encounter with have questions and answers of who she is. They don’t see her wings until she expands them and fly’s away. She did it to impress them. To show them that she can fly and they cant. How sad because I would be so jealous and yet fascinated. The interesting fact in this chapter was that Max had her first encounter with kids without wings. Kids so different from her and yet so the same.

-Chicken soup for the teenage soul
-The home run
-todays story was pretty short. it was about a brother and a sister. The brothers name was cory and the sisters name was ter. It was on june 18 she had gone to his baseball game as she always does. He was 12 years old and had been playing baseball for a couple of years. When she saw that he was warming up to be next at bat she decided to go to the dugout to give him a couple of pointers. But when she got there she simply said “I love you.” he asked her does this mean you want me to hit a home run. She just answered do your best. When he walked up to the plate he looked so confident so sure about what he had to do. One swing was all it took and what do you know he hit his first home run. He ran around the bases with such pride his face was lit up. When he got back to the dugout he went up to her and told her “I love you too Ter.” she doesn’t remember if his team won or not but it simply does not matter.
One interesting thing that I learned from this story is that some thing as little as an I love you can make something big happen.

Chicken Soup for the Soul
Title: A Mom’s Life
This story is just describing what happens on a day to day basis for a typical mother. A hard working mom with kids and a career a regular busy body. (take out the trash, make your bed, turn it down, and I’m talking to you, Are you listening to me?) It just trying to tell us how hard it is on a mom and how she’s got it. And the reason moms do all this is because they love their children and they just want the same love back like when she asks for a hug and a kiss she shouldn’t have to ask.
So this story basically showed me that I need to show more respect to my mom cause I know when she is on the phone I’m always nagging her especially when were in the car ill turn my music up real loud. And I don’t listen to her the first time she tells me to do something it takes her a while to get through to me.

Title: Wild Animals
Today I read about bears, and pandas. I read about the Sun Bear, this bear is a tropical bear which needs a lot of warmth. It nests in trees. It also laps up termites with its long tongue. Especially loves wild honey, its an omnivore. Giant panda was once thought the Red panda, it is now classed as a bear. It tends to live alone, and it has special pads on its hands to help it grip bamboo, which is its main diet. The giant panda scent marks its territory by rubbing its bottom on the ground. I also read about the red panda, it is related to the raccoons. It eats bamboo like the giant panda, rare, and is found in the Himalayas.

"Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul III" A book of short stories

I continued reading in this book and read a new short story. The title of the short story was, "The Best of Brothers." In this book, the two brothers are always fighting. Since childhood, the two never got along. The main character said he didn't know when he started getting smarter than his brother, but when he did, he was slowly coming back with payback. He would play games and other activities and beat him. In the end, the main character would be keeping his self-pride but would get beat up. After that, he started talking about a vacation they all went on. It was a skiing vacation in Colorado. His brother Mike, a mutual friend, and him were all waiting on top of a sloping hill ready to ski down it. His brother Mike went first. He make a couple turns and lost his balance and slid out of control into two trees. In the end, his brother had a concussion with no broken bones. A year and a half later, the main character said their relationship improved and his brother went off to college.
I like this book because me and my brother used to have the same issues and we overcame them also.

Title: Chicken Soup For Teenage Soul
Section: Dear boy
Well had to read this story again, because its very interesting. In this story that I select talks about how the girl wants to be treated like an women, and for whoever her lover may soon to be that he will treat her right with all the respect he could give to her. Also, she wants him to know everything about her, like her eye color is brown, she preferred roses over daisy’s, and the color of her hair. And when she cries she wants him to hold her and be there for her, and that when she is crying she’s not crying because of him, its because of the thought that counts. I learned that loving someone is very special but hard to let go. I also learned that the boy you love should know every little thing about you and around you. I liked the fact that she’s not chasing her love, she letting the love come to her. I also liked the fact that she didn’t only explain the relationship, but if they ever broke up they still will have the doubts and benefits, and they will become close friends instead, but in their hearts they know that they still love each other forever.

♥This morning I read the first chapter of the book, “Holes.” It was about Camp Green lake. It wasn’t a lake anymore, it was once the largest lake in Texas. But that was over a hundred years ago. But now, it was just a dry, flat wasteland. During the summer the daytime temperatures hovers around ninety-five degrees in the shade- if one could find any shade. There were only two trees for shade. The story was about a boy that was sentenced to time at Camp Green Lake, a Juvenile Court Facility.
♥The thing that I liked about the story is that I’ve already seen the movie so when I’m reading the book, I can actually picture the actors and scenes in the movie.
