Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul
Title: Bright Heart
This Story was written by Jenifer Love Hewitt an actress. And she was invited to participate in a carnival for Tuesday’s Child an organization that helps children with aids. And at the carnival she went to a booth that you had to paint a square and later that square was going to be sewn together and it would make a quilt. They gave everyone fabric paint that was bright and beautiful colors. Jenifer looked around at every ones squares and saw hearts, suns, flowers, and clouds. She looked at one little boys and it was painted with dark colors that were dark, empty, and lifeless. She thought maybe that they just round out of bright colors but they weren’t, so she asked him why he used such dark colors, he said cause his heart was that color cause he had a disease that could never be cured so what was the point of having a bright heart. She said well there are things that can help like bear hugs and she offered one and the boy jumped up on her lap and gave her a big squeeze, and she felt the love in that hug to. As the day went on it was time to go home and as she was leaving she felt a tug on her shirt. Standing there was the little boy and he said my heart changed color, it is getting brighter. And on the way home she could feel her heart getting brighter too.
I think this story was a really nice story to read I have read story that she has written in the past about children that were sick and dieing and this one has touched me the most.
I read When the Wind Blows by James Patterson. Chapter 35 and 36 were about Uncle Thomas and Kit Harrison. Uncle Thomas follow the two kids and her mother to there home in the woods and wants to know more information about Tinkerbelle. He tells them he is an agent and has questions about the little girl since he has seen her himself. He has to do this and then he is going to have to kill them since they know about Tinkerbelle and maybe even more. The kids wont confess, until Uncle Thomas threatens them. They confess and sing like a canary. Kit Harrison is doing some investigating himself. He interviews one of the doctors about the murders of other two doctors he used to work with about five years ago. He denies anything to do with the murders. Kit got him rattled up and that’s all he wanted. I think this doctor Kit questioned isnt involved. I think he isnt because of the fact he is still alive. If he was he would be dead like all the other doctors. The interesting fact in this story is that the two kids who had the encounter with Max are going to die for what they know and what they saw.
I miss you Miss Jade!!!!!!!

-Coffee shop kindness
-Todays story was bout a girl named Christine Walsh. She was a senior in high school and so far her senior year had been extremely hectic. If she wasn’t studying and worrying about her grades, she was juggling multiple extracurricular activities or trying to make sense of her plans for college. It seemed to her as if her life had become one big cloud of confusion. Then near the end of the year she got a job at the local coffee shop. She thought that it was going to be easy. but she didn’t count on the customers complaining and returning the coffee because its too creamy or it has too much sugar. Then one ugly rainy day one of the regular customers came in and looked sad and depressed. When he was ordering she asked what was wrong but he didn’t give much details. He only said that he wished to be in bed and stay there for a couple of years. When she gave him his order he saw that she also gave him a bag and he was surprised because all he had ordered was a coffee. He opened the bag and saw that she gave him his favorite type of doughnut. He looked up at her and she told him it was on her. The next day was also a terrible one there was lightning and raining. Everyone was coming in through the drive thru and she was getting so stressed. Then the same customer pulls up and hands her a rose and a note. She says thank you and he says thank you. She waits until he pulls out of the drive way and goes to read the letter. It said thank you for being so nice and so unselfish and that he hopes that she never changes. And throughout the day every time she got mad she just thought about him and just put on a smile.
-I think that this story is nice because it is something so deep. There aren't many people like her she is one in a million.
-One thing that I learned about this story is if you cant return a favor pass it on.
♥ This morning I read a short story in, “Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul.” The story is titled, A French Cat and it’s about a woman that shared a bond with another cat lover. The woman and her husband would always travel for about two weeks, and would always have to leave their cat at home. This time they decided to stay on vacation for an extra week and the woman missed her cat more than ever. The couple later ended up checking into a hotel and as they were parking the car, another car pulled up beside them. The lady was holding a Siamese Cat and speaking French non-stop to the couple. The woman could not understand because she only knew how to speak English. But when she saw the French lady holding her cat, she couldn’t bear the sight. It made her miss her cat at home more. The French woman knocked on her window and once the lady opened her window, she handed her the Siamese cat. Without words, she grabbed the cat and rocked him in her arms for about a minute, then handed him back. The next day, the lady was so amazed at the fact that the lady knew without actually knowing that she missed her cat.
♥ I enjoyed reading a story that talked about a language of cat and cat’s lovers’ was worldwide. It’s also cool how this story turns out to be true, because it sounded to bogus to be true.
♥ Ms. Jade, like the picture you have here of Maui scribbled in the sand with the flower, could you please write my name and take a picture of it for me? =)
Title: Gardenia
The story I read to day was about a young girl who always received a beautiful gardenia flower in front of her door. She never knew who sent it to her since there was no message or some short of florist card. She wondered had it been from a secret a admirer or maybe from one of the neighbors. Her mother would tell her maybe its from someone that you’ve helped out and they wanted to thank you. She was a normal girl. Very nice and polite, her mother had raised her good. Her mom was the kind who always had their children doing creative things. They all seemed a happy family. But one day her father suffered from a heart attack, and past away a day after she went looking for a prom dress. After that she feel so depressed and sad and angry because her dad had left in the most important moments of her life. She no longer cared for anything and lost her interest in many things. Prom was no longer anything for her, and her plans to move out for a better college were no longer in mind. But as she came home one day she found that dress in her living room. Her mother hadn’t forgotten about the prom. Although she did not really brag about her new dress her mother seemed to care. She had a great heart for her children. Years past and that young girl became a young women. She married at the age of 22, 10 days after her marriage her mother past away and no longer were there white gardenias at her door. One thing that I liked about this story was, the mother’s attitude towards her kids, she was very supportive. Another thing I also enjoyed was that she never let her daughter know that she was the one who would deliver the white gardenia. Family is very important and should come before anything, its very special for someone to receive a flower or to deliver a flower for those who you care about.
p.s. ms jade i hope yu dnt bring this sub back!
Title: Spices
Section: Searching for a new spice route
In this story selection, I read that the Europeans had wanted to set up their own trade route. So when they thought about that they had started searching for a spice route to Asia. The traders wasn’t able to use the trade routes controlled by Arabs, instead they were forced to go and buy spices at a high price from the Arabs in Venice. They had grew tired of paying the high prices that they had to pay to buy the spices, so they finally decided to find a new sea route to the spice island and India. They wanted to control the spice trade to grow healthy. But before the Europeans, the Portuguese explores had already the first out to search for a new spice route. They had was followed by the Dutch and English explores. When they were searching they searched through the west coast of Africa, but at first some of them were scared to go very far, because they thought that there were monsters that lived in the unknown seas. Bartolemeu Dias, was the first person to find the new spice trade route of the Europeans, and they took the new way they also found which was around Africa and travel east. I learned that the Europeans went through very much to be able to start their own spice route. I also learned that they weren’t the only settlers looking for new routes, and that they weren’t the only people who had to spend high prices to get spices. I like the fact that it all came together and they found what they was looking for. I also like the fact that they were strong people, but they also were afraid of the there being a monster in the unknown seas, but they found there way around it.
*Spices
Many spices used to be found in the Molucca Islands of Indonesia. Warm, wet places like these Spice Islands are good for growing spices. The Spice Route crossed the Middle East to the Mediterranean Sea. The Spice Route covered more than 9,321 miles (15,000 kilometers). Some Arab traders were skilled sailors. They sailed up and down the Spice Route. An exchange of goods took place in each new place they visited. The traders also spread their knowledge and religion in all the places where they traveled. The Europeans traded goods such as pottery for spices. People used spices to flavor food and to make medicines and perfumes. The Dutch quickly took over the Spice Islands. I thought that this book had a lot of facts about spices, and what you can do with them.
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul
Today I read a story called “ A famous Father”. This is a story about a girl whose dad just died. He wasn’t a hero, or a doctor or a sports figure but he was a great man. He was a person who was not interested in getting credit or receiving honor. He paid all his bills on time. Went to church every Sunday and served as a officer in the P. T. A. He helped his kids. He drove his wife to do the grocery shopping on Thursday nights. Tonight is her fist day without her father. She feels lonely. She feels bad for not appreciating him and showing him how much she really cared about him. She wished she could show him the respect he deserved. She is thankful that God let her have him for 15 years. She said that the wonderful man died with a smile on his face and fulfillment in his heart. That man was a great success as a father, husband, son and brother. I like this story because she was very proud of her dad. She liked her dad so much and I think that everyone should be proud of their dads even though if he wasn’t the best. It was their father. I like this story because it makes me think if I really show my father how much I appreciate him.
Chicken Soup for the Soul.
"All I Remember"
This story is about how a young child with the name of Bobbie Probstein is so close to his father. With his mother already dead, he experiences the death of his father. By the time his father reached the age of 80 years old, they both knew that it was his time to go. They both laughed and cried together. and Bobbie told his father that when he dies, he wants a sign from his father that he is fine. His father does not believe in reincarnation though. One day Bobbie was getting a massage and could not stop thinking about his father and what sign he would get. It came to him that he needs to stop thinking about it and let it happen on its own. As soon as he let it free from his mind, a picture of his mother popped in his head and she looked at him. So all he could say is "Mother, im so sorry that you had to suffer with such a horrible disease." His mother smiled and said "But all i remember is love." Bobbie hasnt heard anything from his father since that day, but he's pretty sure one day he'll get a sign.
I thought this story is so sad. I hate how everyday bobbie expects a sign, you're not supposed to expect a sign, you have to let it come to you by its self.
