Title: Book of Pregnancy & Baby Care.

8 Sentence reflection:
After reading this book I learned a lot of things that I did not know I would have to go through during pregnancy.Once you find out that you are pregnant and you are planning to keep your baby you should get on prenatal care ASAP. After you give birth, you should think about staying an extra few days in the hospital. The average stay is about 48 hours, but you normally have an option of staying as long as ten days. Women are capable of having home births but if you are over 35 and not as healthy as you should be, it is best that you don’t have a home birth. When you first get prenatal care, they check your high, blood tests, general examination, and an internal examination. When you go to get prenatal care they normally check your weight, blood pressure, and take a urine sample and they also feel the abdomen. Women have high risk pregnancies when they have, anemia, diabetes, incompetent cervix, preeclampsia, and phesus negative mother. A miscarriage is the ending of a pregnancy before 28 weeks, this normally happens to 1 in 5 pregnancies. Most miscarriages happen during the first 12 weeks. The main symptom that shows that you have had a miscarriage is when you are having vaginal bleeding. If the bleeding is heavy and you are in pain, it means that the baby has died. When you are pregnant, and you have a miscarriage you have to go to the hospital for a D. and C (Dilation and Curettage).

3 Sentence Reflection:
After reading a part of the book, I realized that there is a lot of responsibility to take care of the baby inside your stomach.
I also found out that prenatal care isn’t just taking the prenatal pills but also the doctor or nurse checking your body.
I also didn’t know what midwifes were, and that they even existed.

Interesting thing:
Something that I thought was interesting was that the only real symptom of a miscarriage is vaginal bleeding and when you have the baby taken out from you, a doctor has to do a dilation and curettage.

♥This morning I read a few chapters on the book based on “The Great Migration.” Although some people might have thought that leaving a familiar place and moving to a distant place was strange, most African-Americans wanted to leave the South. Once the Civil War ended in 1865, life was very difficult in the South for many African-Americans. Even though the 13th amendment had abolished slavery, being free was still the very first step taken towards a better life. Most African-Americans still worked as farmers and very few own their own land. Their children had little chance for an education. They wanted to be able to earn a good living, to own property, and to move ahead in life and society. Many African-Americans believed that moving to the North would open up options to make their hopes and dreams a reality.
♥The pictures in this small book are interesting and say a lot about how life was in the South from 1865-1915.

Chicken Soup for the Women’s Soul
Title: To My Grown up Son
This was a story but in poem form, but it was written by a mother to her son. She wrote this poem to show that she should have paid more attention to him, when he asked her to read a story to him she was too busy. When she tucked him into bed she wasn’t only there for like a minute to hear him say his prayers and tuck him in and she left. And then it ends with talking about now as they both grow older he’s busy and she has long days that are hard to fill and she wishes she could go back and do all the things he asked her to.

Think this story teaches parents a valuable lesson on taking care of your children, and to pay more attention to them. Cause the time you have with them you should cherish it cause when they grow up, they will be too busy.

Title: East Asia
Today I read about Islands and Archipelagos. Islands are areas of land that are completely surrounded by water. Groups of islands are called archipelagos. The country of Japan is an archipelago of four islands. I also read that Indonesia and the Philippines, has over 20,000 islands. The islands and archipelagos of East Asia are located off of mainland Asia. For thousands of years people on these islands have depended on the water that surrounds them to provide food and for transportation. The islands of this region vary in size, population, climate, landforms, and animal life. There are two ways to determine what makes these islands so diverse, one factor is latitude, or the distance a place is from the Equator . The islands farther from the Equator have cooler temperatures, while those closer have warmer temperatures. Elevation also effects climate, and also the plant & animal life on an island. One interesting fact I read about is that the land high above sea level is cooler than land close to sea level.

Section title: Dead at 17
Summary: The book was about that there was a 17 year old talking like if he was already dead in the future. He was talking about how he was really sad that his parents were very sad about his death he never thought that parents do get depress when they loose someone in their family. He was also talking about how he didn’t live life how he was supposed to like a normal teen that haves fun and experience new things. What I think so far about this teen is that dead shouldn't be the subject that he should think of because there's other things were he can concentrate like he could be thinking about his future in a way that could help him not to think when he is going to died. In my opinion what I think about my future is to finish school and start my short career as a medical assistance

Today I read about Asian water dragon. The length to this reptile is 75cm {30 in}. This species is also being increasingly bred in captivity and should not be to difficult to obtain. Although they say that it is not closely related to the green iguana, but it does have green scale color and shape. Native to south east Asia the water dragon lives in wooded areas, usually close to permanent water. The original color is green, but around the neck and flanks it is blue, pinkish. the long tapering tail is banded with brown.
I think this reptile is a fascinating animal. Also it would be a good pet to have. It is a beautiful animal.
Today I learned that this reptile lives always by water habitat.

-Chicken soup for the soul
-Touched
-Todays morning blog was about a sixteen year old girl. She was going through a rough time and was confused. She had just found out that her best friend was moving away and that school was not going as well as she thought. Her dad was an expert massager and he wanted to make her feel better. He was also afraid of getting too close to her because he has seen too many cases of sexual abuse. He was remembering how much easier it was too hold her and caress her when she was two or three. So he decided to settle with a back rub and she consented. He apologized for his recent absence he explained how he went to an international back rubbing finals. He had placed fourth in the finals he told her about the person who had placed third, he was a chinese man he had studied acupuncture and acupressure so he was able to focus all his energy into his fingers. He told her that in second place was a belly dancer. And in first was an infant.
- one interesting thing that I learned is that you can learn something from anyone in the world.

* Renaissance and Reformation
Venice was the richest city in Europe. The people of Venice used much of this wealth to glorify their city through art. Venice was founded by people from the coast of northern Italy. They settled on a group of tiny islands in a lagoon off the Adriatic Sea. The “streets” of this seaport are canals. Venice was a city-state. It ruled a larger city-state made up of territory on the Italian mainland. Like Florence, Venice was a republic. The members of Venice’s richest and most important families chose the city’s leaders. I thought it was very interesting that the people from Venice, who were surrounded by water, turned to the sea for their living. The city’s location was also great for trade.

The Tiger Rising.

So this guy is in Kentucky and feels that he has the worst luck ever. He looks at the Kentucky flag and its colors and feels as though there is some type of good luck symbol on it. He moved to Kentucky with his father after his mother died. The kentucky flag made the young boy feel a little stronger. After he saw the flag he decided to walk into the forest and get lost and eaten by a bear. But instead he sees and old abandoned house with a cage next to it. Inside the cage was a Tiger. He thought the tiger was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen in his life. He felt that it must of been truely lucky to find a tiger at all. He found a way to keep all his emotions "trapped inside the suitcase" he will use the tiger to sit on it and keep it shut.
