This morning I read a story called ‘Encouragement’ from the book Chicken Soup for the Soul. It’s about an author Nathaniel Hawthorn before he became an author. He had came home to his wife, Sophia, and told her he had gotten fired from his job at a customhouse. She was happy and she told him he could finally write his book. He was surprised to hear that she had been saving up money from what he gave her every week for housekeeping. It was enough for them to live off of for a whole year. She had that much confidence in her husband that he would become a great writer. He went on to write one of the greatest novels of American literature. I really enjoyed this story because it showed that having trust and confidence in a person can pay and they can become someone great.
This morning I read When the Wind Blows by James Patterson. I read chapters 39 and 40. Max is still the center of attention in these chapters. Max is hiding in a tree from Uncle Thomas. She is pissed off at the fact she got found and know the cabin is known so she is homeless once again. She is tired and stressed, she ends up falling asleep on the branch she is holding for dear life. When she awakens she is paranoid about the fact that Uncle Thomas could be anywhere. She waits a few minute but doesn’t hear nothing but the airplane flying over her head. She was made to fly so she goes and flies. She loves to fly. Its like her drug. It’s the only thing that probably makes her feel good besides the fact that people are out to kill her because of all the knowledge she knows. The interesting fact in these chapters is the fact that Max can fly.

Title: Hello, Dolly!
This story was written by Dolly Rebecca Parton. Dolly talks about how she has been singing ever since she could talk. She would write songs to her mother cooking and her pa farming in the fields. To the animals in the wild like geese that was her favorite to sing-a-long with cause they were free to sing where ever they want and one day she wanted that. Well her Uncle Louis taught her how to play the guitar and gave her an old Martin guitar she sit on her front porch and act as if that were her stage. She wanted to sing on a real stage in front of a real audience. She wanted to sing at the Gran Ole Opry! And people always told her “You’re just a kid” or “You have to be in the Union” or anything they could think of. Finally, Jimmy C. Newman, who had a spot agreed to give her his place one night. And She was announced by Johnny Cash that night and she sang as if she was singing to the world “here I am, this is me”
That was the starting of Dolly’s career when she was a little girl. And today she still carries on her dream of singing on stage.
Hi Miss Jade!!! I hope your having a fun trip!!!

Title: Kiss
Today I read a short poem about relationships. The poem I read told about a kiss. How you close your eyes and get up close. Speak from your heart and feel their soul. Hold them tight as you move in closer. Catch them shaky as they’re about to fall. Pucker your lips touch caress their face move in to get the kiss. As you kiss you feel the heart racing as a beat. Your body's close so you can feel the heat. You never felt so good before kissing the one you truly love. Too bad you have to let go, but you be back on that one. One thing I liked about this poem is that it was very special and it made me get really into it. One thing I learned kissing is nice, but it’s wonderful when you do it with a person you really have feelings for.

“Race” by Bart Schneider
A book of short stories
I kept reading Naomi’s story. In this part, she started talking about her past with her family. She said her home was swarming with immigrants passing through, Greeks and Lebanese. She described her living room to be filled with the Arabic language, something her and her brother were not learning. She also said she would not connect with her culture until 1966, at age fourteen, when she would move to what then was the Jordanian side of Jerusalem. She went to school with Armenians, another group of alienated refugees entirely, in the convent sector of the Old City. In that school, Naomi was the only non-Armenian student enrolled. Naomi noticed the students seemed happy to have someone show up “from the outside.” She said she still has that note; “Were sick of ourselves, so tell us a new story, okay?”
I liked this part of the story because it is showing how she connected to her culture. I agree with this story because I am half Mexican and a lot of people don’t believe me. I have to just have to live my life knowing who I am and not let anyone try to bring me down.
I have seen what being a different skin color can bring from discriminators such as racism or prejudice and I don’t agree with it.
♥ This morning I read a short story called, I Try To Remember. It was about ten things one should always remember know matter what. The first was that everyone doesn’t have to love you. It’s important to remember that you don’t need everyone to like you to love yourself. The second was that it’s okay to make mistakes. Making mistakes is something everyone does and you are still a fine and worthwhile person when you make them. The third thing was that you are always responsible for your day. If you think you’re going to have a bad day just because one thing goes wrong- then you probably will have a bad day. But if you have a positive attitude and say to yourself that you will have a good day- you will have a good day. The fourth thing was to remember that you should always try, that you are capable, and that you can change. It’s important to try your hardest because nothing is impossible if you have faith in yourself. If you think you are doing something wrong, you can change, no matter what people might say. Lastly, you can handle it when things go wrong. You should not waste time or energy worrying. The sky won’t fall in; things are going to be just fine.
♥ I enjoyed reading the whole story. Although these were things I’ve already been told, it’s was a good reminder. <3
Miss Jade, could you please do us all a favor and do not ever bring this sub back! She is a %@#!*, you know a witch. =) Seriously, she's ridiculous and crazy. She snatched Francisco's sandwich out of his hand. Then she snatched Ignacio's chips right out of his hand and threw them on the floor. "Yeah... " Well, enjoy the rest of your vacation and we can't wait until you come back.
Reflection-6/21/07
Shhh…...The Fireman coming………The reason I say that is because I have an anger situation, and if you spark it up, I'm a put you out. Just, the things I have been through, and have seen, puts me into a different state of mind. Man, if it’s a problem, come and let me no. If it ain’t S**t, go on and let go. But while it’s on my mind, I need to let you. My hands can be dangerous, and I'm not afraid to let them go. Just respect me, and don’t come at me sideways, come at me correct. Straight forward.

Chicken Soup for the Soul.
"A Mom's Life"
This story isn't a story. It isn't a poem neither. Its just rows of lines mothers always say to their children from, "Clean your room.
to "Ask your father." A lot of the lines have to do with cleaning, and rules. Hardly ever did she say give me a kiss or i need a hug. If you really think about it, children get lazy, and parents have hard times disciplining them. Children like to do as they please and act like their mothers are maids. I know this because my mom says that a lot. :]. But i learned that if we do things before our mother even says it, they won't complain as much, and you'll have more time getting compliments, smiles, hugs, and kisses more often, rather than to want to leave and make your mother even more angry.
5/21 Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul:
Today I have read a story called “tell the world for me”. This is a story about a collage professor who had a very odd student. His name was Tommy. Tommy was always trying to find God. Him and his teacher would get into arguments about that. One day Tommy asked the teacher “Do you think I’ll ever find God?”. The teacher replied “no”, “God will find you”. Tommy just left. Later she heard that Tommy had graduated and she also found out something very sad. Tommy had cancer. One day unexpectedly Tommy came to her room. She looked at him, he was very weak. She wanted him to talk about his sickness. He had cancer on his groin and the doctors removed it but the cancer didn’t go away. He was tired of looking for God. He just wanted a message and he realized he wasn’t going to get it so he just gave up. One day he got up and walked up to his father and told him he loved him. His father put the newspaper down and for the first time his father hugged and cried. The next morning we walked up to his little brother and his mother and told him he loved them. They talked about things that they would never speak of before. He realized he was sorry for not doing that sooner. One day he just turned around and saw God. He didn’t come when he pleaded for him. Then he remember what his teacher had said God found him. The only thing he asked for his teacher is for her to tell his story. I think that this is a very sad story. Tommy is a very strong man. I also think that God is always there for you even if you don’t see him. But the day that you really need him and least expect it you will.
