Title: Book Of Pregnancy & Baby Care
8 Sentence Summary:
After you give birth to your baby hunger will always come about. It will seem that all the baby wants to do is eat. When the baby was in the placenta it had food coming to it 24/7 and the baby got used to it. The first few weeks you may think that since you’re feeding your baby so much you think you are spoiling the baby but really you’re not. Premature babies have small appetites but will always need to be fed frequently. When you are nursing your baby you should feel very comfortable because you aren’t sure how long the baby will be eating. You should also let your baby use one breast at a time to be fed that way the baby sucks all the milk out of one breast. If you don’t want your baby to drink breast milk off of your breast you can also express milk by hand or using a pump. If you choose to breastfeed than your breasts might leak or your nipples may be sore or cracked. If you are planning to give bottles to your baby there are 4 different types of nipples; natural-shaped, universal, anti-colic, and wide-based nipples. You should clean the bottles by rinsing them out and putting them into soapy hot water, scrubbing the inside of the bottles, rubbing some salt inside the nipples and moving it around, and rinsing the bottle, as well as sterilizing by boiling.
3 Sentence Thought Reflection:
Breastfeeding can have problems.
You should sterilize your bottles to keep your baby from getting an upset stomach. When you use concentrated liquid formula you need to boil hot water to go along with it.
Interesting Fact:
I didn’t know that there were different types of nipples.
Today I read about east Asia. Much of east Asia was formed by earthquakes and volcano's. you can see wild life that doesn’t even live anywhere else. All the islands are surrounded by the ring of fire, which is volcano's. groups of islands are called archipelagos. The country of Japan is a archipelagos of four islands. Indonesia and Philippines has over 20,000 islands. for thousands of years people on these islands have depended on the water that surrounds them to provide food and for transportation.
I think that it is not good to live their. It is a bad location to be at if that volcano explodes. I would never live their.
I learned that their islands are completely surrounded by volcano's.

Title: The Funeral of My Rose
Today I read a short story from this book that was based on relationships. In the story there’s this young guy named Derek, who has a crush on his friend Lauren, ever since elementary. To him Lauren was the most beautiful thing in life. The kind of crush where every time she would walk past him, his heart would begin to pound. But as he would try to talk to her, he would get stuck and not be able to say anything. Derek always wanted to comfort her, but he would get too nervous or shy. As one day past he found out that she was going out with some guy named Kevin. One day he decided to go over to her house, with a red rose that he had brought for her. As he went to her house to speak to her, he asked her if it was true if she had been already been with some guy named Kevin. And she replied to him yes, looking really confused. He blurred out, that he didn’t deserve her and that and that he liked her a lot. As soon as she heard that she seemed to look more confused. As she seemed not to really care, Derek left back into his car and drove onto his way home. He realized that he had to get over her. So after that experience he finally figured that, you’re not capable of making someone love you but, the only thing you can do is make yourself a better person for someone to love. One thing I liked about this story was that he seemed to be a very caring guy, one of those guys that there’s only a 1 in a million chance. I think he had much courage to tell the girl who he dreams of how he really feels, and get rejected. One thing I learned is that in relationship there’s always a time where someone loves the other more than their couple and sometimes that person who doesn’t love the other doesn’t realize. But even though things may be difficult in one relationship, sometimes the next will be a whole lot better and your last relationship will help you to learn from your mistakes. But there is nothing like being love and love back.
Title: Lizards
I read about a lizard called a Varanus niloticus, it can grow to a length of 6 feet or more, its size and aggressive disposition make this a poor choice for the beginner. I also read about life support systems for lizards. Being ectothermic (cold blooded), lizards are unable to maintain their body temperatures at a relatively constant level without the assistance of an external heat source. In nature, the natural heat sources mainly come directly or indirectly from the sun. By the process of thermoregulation lizards maintain an optimum body temperature by basking directly in the sun and/or by coming into contact with sun-warmed surfaces. Unless we keep our lizards in open-air enclosures, it is usually quite impossible to use natural sunlight as a source of heat.
Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul.
"Becky and the Wolf"
This story is about a little girl named Becky who had to learn how to play by herself because her brothers and sisters were always away at school. Her parents promised her that they would get her a puppy, and to just pretend that she has a puppy in the mean time. As time goes on, Becky comes home with imaginary puppies that can do amazing tricks and tells her mother to watch. But one day Becky comes home and tells her mother to look at a dog that is very thirsty and can not walk. The mother is kind of confused not knowing if this is real or not, she follows and sees her daughter hugging the head of a wolf. The wolf looked dangerous at first but noticed that he felt loved when Becky pats him and tells him that it's okay. Becky's mom tells Becky to go into the house and calls an uncle over to check out the wolf. He brings his gun and wants to shoot the wolf but Becky comes out and thinks that He'll save the wolf and begins hugging the wolf again. Becky's mom and her uncle decide to just take the wolf to the vet to get him cleaned up. There were bullet wounds in his legs and he was well over weight. As soon as Ralph the wolf regained his strength he would always follow Becky around everywhere they were like best friends. School was hard though, Ralph would wait by the road until she returned home and was very excited when she came back. Many people feared Ralph because he was a wolf and Ralph was very protective over her. When Becky turned 15 Ralph heard that one of the other farmers close by shot a wolf and some of its cubs and the mom. Ralph of course came home with another bullet wound but this time he could not get better. He was already getting old. Ralph became disappearing more frequently until he finally died in the spot he was found in when he was little. Becky cried and rubbed his head, and out of nowhere two yellow eyes popped out and looked at Becky and her mother. Becky held the baby and told them exactly the first thing she told Ralph when she found him. "Don't be afraid. That's my mom, and she loves you, too." I thought this story was the cutest story ever. It was so crazy how she could have a wolf for a pet and how protective the wolf was over her. The Ralph knew he was dying i guess and he brought his last baby over with him where he knew it would be safe. Especially since the mother was dead too. i learned that you shouldn't judge anything from what it looks like, you can always find love somewhere in there. :]
Title: Chicken Soup for Teenage Soul
Section: Dear Girl
Yes, I had to read this story again, because its very interesting and I really understand the thoughts of the boy writing the letter to the girl. Well in this section, the boy wrote a letter to the girl of his dreams so that when he finally meets her he could give her the letter so she could read what he is looking for, and how he wants to be treated but in a good way. He also states that he needs someone that’s going to be there for him through thick and thin, and that everything he has is his and hers. The letter that he wrote also talks about the way he has been missed treated and how he never really had that one true love. I learned that love is a valuable lesson and it takes a lot to know you really love that person. I also learned that when you love someone you care for them and their feelings and the things they do wrong and bad, and if that person loves you they will help you to do the right things. I like the fact that knowing that there are guys or young men out there is looking for someone to love and someone that’s going to love them back and care for them the way they care for the person there in love with.

The first hit of the game. Leaving it all on the field. Team first. A battlefield. A street fight. The feeling inside when you lay someone out. The silence before the storm. The storm. ♥This morning I read a story titled, “What You Are Is As Important As What You Do.” It was about a proud father who’s name was Bobby Lewis. One sunny afternoon in Oklahoma, Bobby Lewis decided to take his grandson to play miniature golf. Bobby walked up to the ticket counter and asked how much it would cost for the two. The young man said it was $3.00 and if the little boy was over the age of six years, it would be another $3.00. Bobby replied, “I’m 56years old and my grandson is 7years old, so I guess I owe you $6.00.” The man at the counter was shocked at his honesty and said, “Hey mister, you could have told me the boy was six and I wouldn’t have known the difference.” Bobby replied, “Yes, but my grandson would have known the difference.” As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Who you are speaks so loudly, I can’t hear what you’re saying.” Bobby Lewis wanted to make sure to set a good example for his grandson.
♥My favorite part of the story was the end, *duh. It was very surprising when he did not decide to lie to the young man at the ticket counter. It was cute that he wasn’t selfish and actually thought of what his grandson would have thought of him if he were to lie.
*1,001 Facts About The Human Body
The brain is the body’s control center. The adult human body contains over 50 trillion cells. Three billion of the body’s cells die every minute. Red blood cells are the only cells to lack a nucleus. These cells carry oxygen and live for about 120 days. Nerve cells are the longest cells in the body. Nerve cells transport electrical messages. About 10 billion new white blood cells are made every day. They help fight infection. 99% of the body’s calcium is in the bones and teeth. 75% of the body's bone is compact and 25% is spongy bone. Compact bone is the body’s second hardest material after enamel. The skull contains 22 bones. The face is made up of 14 bones.

-The funeral of my rose
-today's story was about a guy named Derek. He was driving home from a play rehearsal. He turns on the radio and there is a good song on so he turns it up. The song takes him to a different world he starts daydreaming about his crush. Then he spots a grocery store to his right and he swirls into the parking lot. The only thing that he buys is a single rose. He gets back to the car and looks at the time. He sees that its 9 pm and it looks like a good solid time. He is a driveway his heart is beating fast. He finally gets the courage to get off but he leaves the rose in the car promising to return for it. He rings the doorbell and mrs. Johnson opens the door. He asks for lauren then she comes down the stairs. He struggles to say one word. Then he manages to say if they can talk out on the porch. He asks if she is still going out with kevin. She replies umm…. I think so, and blurts out that he doesn’t deserve her. She asks why and he sais because I like you. She just stood silent then he realizes that its time for him to leave. And in the car he realizes that he did the right thing. He knows that he must move on.
-I think that this story is pretty boring. It is not much interesting I don’t know why I read it.
-One thing that I learned is that you cant make someone love you, you can only make yourself loveable.
"Race" by Bart Schneider
A book of short stories
Today I started on the short story of Henry Louis Gates, JR. The beginning of the story starts off with a letter he wrote to his daughters. He starts talking about a paper mill that will decidedly be built on Park Avenue in Piedmont, West Virginia. He reminisces on the subject saying it will be better if they just ship and old one into town instead of making a new one. His letter was based on the daily life with racism. He reminded his kids about days they had been places and told them a couple of decades before that time it would have been different; he wouldn’t have been able to walk into that building. His friendliness when it came to talking to strangers was also noticed by his daughters. I was surprised when I noticed this story was based on racism. It was a different approach on his lifestyle. I really liked the beginning of this story.
Title: Holes ch. 1-3
Today I read about a boy named Stanley. He got arrested for and the judge gave him the option of going to jail or going to “camp green lake”. He chose to go to the camp because he thought it was going to be fun. He comes from a poor family and his father is an inventor. He says his great-great grandfather was cursed by a gypsy and that’s why his family has bad luck.
I feel bad for Stanley because he has to go to this hot camp. I also feel bad for him because he is poor. I think by him going to the camp he will lean a lesson.
What I found interesting is that his last name is his first name backwards.

Chicken soup for the woman’s Soul
In this chapter I read a very short story called “Just in Time”. This is a story about how a person you don’t even know can change you life. One night at around 11:30 a older African-American woman was standing in the side of a highway. It was raining really hard and she was getting soaked. Her car broke down and she really needed a ride. She decided to flag the next car. A young white man stopped to help her. The man helped her get assistance and put her in a taxi cab. She seemed to be in a hurry. She thanked him, wrote down his address and left. Seven days later someone knocked on the mans door. It was a surprise. A TV and stereo record player was delivered to his house. There was a note with it. It was the lady thanking him for helping her out to be able to get to her dying husbands bedside before he passed away. I think that this is a very nice story about how good people can be. Also it shows that we should care about each other an good things would happen.
