Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul III
Title: Forgive
This was a story but in form of a poem. This poem is saying to forgive mother nature for acting the way it does. Basically giving an explanation for the sun, wind, clouds, storms, and the birds everything. And its just telling us we all find peace if we forgive.
This poem was written to explain why the weather acts in the ways it does. It gives it emotions pain, crying, happiness … etc.
♥ This morning I read a couple chapters if The South Beach Diet. The South Beach Diet is not low-carb, nor is it low-fat. The diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and rights fats and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats. As a result, you’re going to get healthy and lose weight. On the South Beach Diet one can expect to lose anywhere from 8 and 13 pounds in the first 2 weeks alone. The first phase of the diet is eating a normal size helping of meat, chicken, turkey, fish, and shell fish. I’ll also be eating plenty of veggies, eggs, cheese, and nuts. I’ll also have plenty of salads for lunch with real olive oil in the dressing. I will be eating three meals a day and it will be my job to eat so my hunger is satisfied. Nothing makes a weight-loss plan more helpful than distressing the sensation of needing to eat more food. No sane eating program will expect you to starve yourself. In the diet, I will be urged to eat snacks mid-morning and mid-afternoon, whether I need to or not. But on this diet, I’m encouraged to only drink water for a beverage.
♥ I’ve been wanting to get back in shape and I plan on losing my belly fat first. I picked up this book and went to the grocery yesterday.=]
Title: East Asia
Today I read about The Great Gobi. The Gobi is the largest desert in Asia. It stretches about 500,000 square miles across China and Mongolia. It is similar to the Chang Tang and Taklimakan because it too is a cold desert. Temperatures in the Gobi can range from 113 Fahrenheit during the summer to minus 40 Fahrenheit in the winter. However, the Gobi is also different from the other deserts, in that its landscape consists mostly of gravelly plains and small basins. I also read about a team of United States and Mongolian researchers found one of the world’s richest dinosaur fossil beds. Fossils are the remains of plants or animals preserved in rock. These dinosaur fossils were discovered in the Mongolian Gobi, at a place called Ukhaa Tolgod.

-Somebody should have taught him
-this story is about a girl it doesn’t say her name but it says that it is retold by Jane Watkins. The girl went to a birthday party and she was going to drink. But she remembered that her parents told her to not do it so she didn’t. instead she just drank a sprite even though her friends told her she should. As the party ended and everyone got to their car and left she got into her own car and left. Now she just remembers that she is on the pavement and the police man saying that the other guy caused the wreck because he was drunk. And the paramedic was saying that she isnt going to make it. Now she just wishes that her mom was there to hold as she dies. She also says to her father to be brave, and her sister to not be afraid.
-I think that this story is pretty sad. I wonder how many accidents have been like that?
-one interesting thing that I learned is that you should enver drink and drive and that the parents should teach that lesson to their kids
This morning I read “One at a Time” from the book Chicken Soup for the Soul. It’s about a man who was walking on a beach in Mexico. He noticed another man picking things up off the beach and throwing them into the ocean. When he got closer he saw that the man was throwing starfish that had been washed up on shore. He asked the man what he was doing. The man said if he doesn't throw them back they will die from lack of oxygen. He told the man that there are thousands of starfish on this beach and that he couldn't get to all of them and he could not make a difference. The man just smiled as he tossed another starfish and said that he had made a difference to that one. I liked this story because the man cared about the starfish. He knew he couldn't get to all the starfish but he helped the ones he could.
"Race" by Bart Schneider
A book of short stories
I continued reading the short story of Naomi Shihab Nye. She was talking about how when she was twelve, she had her first summer job picking berries on a local farm. She was the only semi-white picker and the only girl. She said she had a good time listening to what everyone on that farm had to tell. She learned a lot about their differences and thought it was enlivening. They had made a few racial comments to Naomi but they didn’t know better. They did that to figure out the true background of her religion. She talked about her father and how he would always try his hardest in his life and wouldn’t let anyone put him down because he’s another race. I like this story because it shows how life was back then in St. Louis. I think that this story will help our people connect even due to the racial tension. I also agree with the author looking up to her father. She talks highly of him.
HAVE U FOUND THE MAUI WOWIE YET MISS JADE?
today iread abook name holes and is about some kid that is walking by and apair of shos hits him in the head and the police officer sees him and he starts running and the police officer stars chasing him and the next day they took him to camp because they thought the shoes where stolen and he had to do some time in camp

Today I read about the ainu people. These people from Japan traditionally tattooed mustaches on their daughters by rubbing soot into small knife cuts. It is begun with a small semicircle on the upper lip when the girl is only two or three years of age and a few incisions are added every year till she is married. More effective than law thought was assimilation. The aboriginal ainu lived as far north as the kuril islands before most were forced to relocate to densely populated Hokkaido.
I think that the lady is crazy for doing that. She should not have done that to her face now she is ugly. She has to follow her religion.
I learned that the ainu people of Japan tattoo them selves of a mustache.
Chicken Soup for the Soul.
"I Love you, Son."
This story is about a man raising his child, and realizing that as they grow up, they begin to disappear from the house and hang out with their friends. They don't appreciate the time they spend with their parents, and parents barely get the chance to share the time they want to with their children. Like when dropping their child off to school, the child will just jump out of the car instead of saying good bye and spending a minute with the parents. They see their friends and automatically want to leave right away. This man wants to just tell his son that he loves him so much and is so very proud of him.
I think this story is alright, its realistic and its easy to relate to, because as we did grow up we barely wanted to be with our parents we want to be independant as soon as we can and grow up and have fun.
5/20 Chicken Soup for the Teenage soul.
Today I read a story called “Just one drink”. This story is about a boy named Michael. He was at his friends house. They decided to go to dinner. Joe arrived and volunteered to drive. He had just one drink. The four friends traveled the road. They didn’t know were it would end. Suddenly they swerved into the opposite lane and collided with another oncoming car. At the boys house his parents and siblings were watching E.T. At 2:00 am a police knocked on their door and gave them a devastating news. Michael had died. In the morning when the youngest brother woke up he looked at his mother and asked why she was crying. They told him. It hurt him so much. Joe the guy that was driving had only one drink. He lived. Joe was convicted of manslaughter and served time. However the real punishment is to live with the consequences of his actions. He left everyone with an ache in their hearts. And the nightmare of his actions will haunt him for ever. And there is a small cross by the side of Highway 128.
