Book Title: Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul III
Title: He Finally Said, “I Love You”
To day I read a poem about relationships. This poem was based on a a girl and a boy who were in a relationship. From reading this story I gave me a clue that they were taking things slow. They had not yet spoke to one another the feelings they felt inside about each other. As one day the girl finally spoke what she had felt for her boyfriend. But as he heard those words spoken from her lips, he was speechless and didn’t know what to do or say or do. The feeling of shock grew through out his body. As he slightly pushed her away. But there was another day as they were alone together, when he finally spoke to her. He had to express his feelings to her, and told her he was scared. But that day they their relationship grew as they knew they had found, love. One thing I liked about this poem was that although it was a bit sad at first, it’s a very nice thing to tell someone you love them and get the same in return. One thing I learned was that when some one pushes you away when you tell them how you feel, sometimes it is because they’re scared to get hurt. And if it takes them a while and its hard for those words to come out their mouth it’s cause maybe they really mean it.
Chicken Soup for the Women’s Soul
Title: Just The Way You Are
This story is written by the friend of a famous producer named Mark Tucker. One night after one of his shows a woman came up to him and said that he should use some of her son’s music. And he was explaining that her son should make a demo tape and send it in. The woman gave him a funny look and said “well my son is Billy Joel,” And he said oh then I won’t need a demo it would fit Mark’s work beautifully. And she went on explaining that it was a song that he wrote when he was younger cause kids would tease him about him being short. And he went ahead and used the song and it went on to be a Grammy Award-winning song: Don’t go changing to try and please me… I love you just the way you are.
This story grabbed my attention because I have heard this song before on the movie shrek.
*Rome
Italy is a country in southern Europe. Rome is the capital of Italy. Modern Rome is a busy, commercial center and a popular city with tourists. It is a city known for its beauty and rich culture. The city of Rome is often called “The Eternal City”. Rome was the center of a great civilization long ago. Laws and government were important to its people. The Roman Empire covered most of Europe. I thought it was interesting how more than a million people lived in Rome. In ancient Rome, the Pantheon was a temple honoring Roman gods. In ancient Rome, the buildings were made of wood. People were afraid of fire and did not cook in their homes. People had to eat in restaurants or buy food to take home.
♥ This morning I read a story called, Who You Are Makes A Difference. It was about a teacher in New York that decided to honor each of her seniors in high school by telling them the difference they each had made. Using a process developed by Helice Bridges of Del Mar, California. She called each student to the front of the class, one at a time. First she told them how the student made a difference to her and the class. Then she presented each of them with a blue ribbon imprinted with gold letters which read, “Who I Am Makes A Difference.” Afterwards the teacher decided to do a class project to see what kind of impact recognition would have on a community. She gave each of students three more blue ribbons and instructed them to go out and spread this acknowledgement ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored who and report back to the class in about a week. One of her student’s was a junior executive and he took one of his blue ribbons and placed it on his boss’s jacket. His boss came home to his 14 year old son and said to him, “The most incredible thing happened to me at work. I was in my office and one of my junior executives came in and told me he admired me and gave me a blue ribbon that says “Who I Am Makes A Difference” on my jacket above my heart.”
♥ This story was cute and inspirational. It’s hard to believe all these cheesy stories are true but they’re still fun to read. <3
Today I read a story titled “Relief” from Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul III. It was about a girl that doesn't get along with her mom. She wasn’t talking to her friends or family and she felt very alone and lost. She would fight with her mom and instead of punishing her she would make her write a letter of apology. But her apology turned into an explanation of her feelings. The next morning she found a letter from her mom. It said that she understood that she was lost and scared and that she promised to help her. I really enjoyed this story because I could've related to this story at a time in my life. I just didn’t have my mom to help me, I had to get through it on my own. It’s a really bad feeling to feel alone even if your not physically alone. I found that her mom being there for her even though they weren’t close was the most interesting fact.
•Book Title : Book Of Pregnancy & Baby Care.
•8 Sentence Summary :
If you are in the stage that you are giving up diapers you should try training pants. You know when it’s best to potty train your child between age 2 and 2 ½ years old, they recognize that he/she has done something in their diaper and tells you, along with a dry diaper after nap. You should introduce the potty chair to your child and help him/her to use it. Games that you should consider playing with your child is catch, hide-and-seek, and peek-a-boo. If you are planning to have a babysitter for some reason you should be very very careful. Usually when a child is being separated from his/her parents to the babysitter the child goes through anxiety. During the first year to 1 ½ year your child learned how to walk, use the stairs and walking skills and usually imitates you as well. When your child is around 2 years old he/she starts to be more hands on with things.
•3 Sentence Thought Reflection :
•I think that it’s very interesting when children learn how to use things such as their hands. I also think that it’s very exciting as a parent to teach your child to walk, potty train, and talk. I agree that you should know your babysitter very well, especially leaving your child with them, you need to know them like the back of your hand.
•Interesting Fact :
•Something that I found interesting was that around age 1 the child starts to imitate people.
Chicken Soup for the Soul.
"Bilding me a fewchr"
A little boy, probably around the age of 8 years old wrote his teacher a letter about building himself a future. He told his teacher that his mom was crying and asked him if he knows why he is going to school. The little boy didn't know why he was going to school, and his mother told him that he has to go to school so he can build himself a future. She explained to him that no one knows what other peoples futures are, only he could know his future. His mother told him that she loves him and then at the end of the letter, the little boy adds to it, and asks his teacher to try really hard to help him build a future for himself just for his mom and him. His name is Jody.
I thought that this has got to be the cutest letter ever to a teacher. All the mispelled words made it even cuter. Hopefully he grows up inspired as he is today and becomes successful in life.
5/22Chicken soup for the Teenage Soul
Today I have read a story called “Like people first”. This story is about a man named Craig. He was very smart. Craig and his friend Tom were sitting and suddenly Tom saw his old professor and told Craig that he didn’t want to run into him. Last year they had gotten in an argument and it didn’t end well. Plus Tom said “he has never liked me. Craig asked him why he would say that and that he didn’t believe that. Craig said that if he would just like people and talk to them before he made judgment maybe he would have more friends. So Tom tried it with his professor. He went up to his professor and asked him how his summer was. They started talking and they got along. Tom realized that it did work. For example one time on a train to Canada he started talking to a man who everyone was avoiding because he talked funny. While he was talking to him he found out that the man was recovering from a stroke. He was and engineer for the same line they were riding. He told him many stories about when he used to work. One time on California a family stopped to ask him for directions. They were from Australia and were visiting. He asked them questions and later found himself on a cafĂ© talking to them. He realized that liking others and just talking to them could make you a better person because some people just need to talk. I think this story is great because it is true. People judge each other before they even talk to each other. If you would just bother to talk to some one you normally don’t talk to you might find that you are more alike than you thought.
